A potential client invited me for a meeting. He fixed the time. I was on time. He saw me after 2 hours. Apologised and rescheduled.
On the scheduled day. Same thing happened. Three times he wasted my time.
Then the fourth appointment. Again I was on time. Waited 2 hours for a 10 minutes meeting.
Many times I was irritated. Angry. A range of feelings. But, I needed those 10 minutes. When I saw all the invoices and debts to pay, I would calm myself down, post on FB and engage.
I would also recall what MKO had to go through to get his first major contract as written in “Bitter Sweet” authored by Remi Obasanjo. I would recall how Adenuga was said to have humbled himself on the Glo license whenever he visited the Villa.
I have used financial examples because my wait was for a financial transaction. I am working hard on learning how to stoop to conquer. Pride in business will make you poor. Even pride in paid employment can cost you your job.
You see your role models, that are now Kings and Queens in business, they had a waiting time. They swallowed pride many times. They bent the knee for “lesser” mortals in authority.
The path to greatness is not one with arched shoulders!
