A young man visits his brother. He is to spend two weeks. After 5 days, the brother asked him to leave.
The young man goes home angry. He tells their mom how badly he has been treated. The mother is wise. She does not act on a version. She decides to go see her son.
Her son comes home. He awaits the fireworks. There is none.
The mom waits till the next day and then ask questions. “What did your brother do?”
Her son replied, “he was creating friction between my wife and I”. He wanted to go on. His mother stopped him. “You made the right decision. Your brother will one day marry his own wife. He will start his own. Then he will understand better. Let no one bring conflict into your home.”
The mother was speaking from her experience. Her husband had been an accommodating person. Many of their relatives came with motives. Made her home difficult. Her husband and she did not enjoy the marriage.
Her husband told her when he fell ill and was deserted by relatives; “I should have made you and the boys priority. It is too late to do that.” Then he apologized.
It’s a delicate balance. No couple that intends to stay together should be confused about their priorities. In the end…..all will go!
