Promoted Premier League club Nottingham Forest have signed defender Omar Richards from German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
Forest said on Sunday that the former England under-21 international has a contract until 2026 as their fifth summer signing.
Richards, 24, came to Munich last year from Reading and had a four-year contract. He made 17 appearances in all competitions for Bayern before now leaving for a transfer fee estimated at €10 million ($10.2 million).
“I’m thrilled to return to England by joining Nottingham Forest at such an exciting time. The club has enjoyed an incredible last few months and there’s great ambitions for the Premier League return,” Richards said on Forest’s website.
Head coach Steve Cooper said: “We believe that he can make a big impact in our return to the Premier League and are delighted that he has chosen to join us at Nottingham Forest.”
Munich board member for sport Hasan Salihamidžić said: “It was Omar’s wish that we allow him to join Nottingham Forest. He sees the opportunity to become a first-team regular at a Premier League club in his home country.
“Forest are getting a very good player and a lovely guy, who will forge ahead. We wish him all the best.”
